Part 1: Reflect on your team's Final Research Video Project Planning.

For our collaborative team project, we divided the workload using ChatGPT. We worked independently on our individual segments and discussed our progress on Slack.  One of my teammates took on the responsibility of editing all the videos into one. Next time, I believe it would be beneficial for our team to meet twice a week to ensure everyone is aligned and address any concerns promptly.

Video 1: Can AI make us more human? A social psychologist and a business leader answer

In this TED Intersections video, social psychologist Heidi Grant and Barry Cooper, the president of CX Division at NiCE, engaged in a discussion about AI, particularly LLMs. They highlighted the potential of AI in training and simulating challenging situations, preparing individuals for real-world scenarios. They emphasized the significance of prompt engineering as a highly valued skill in the job market. They predict that in the future AI will be able to function as a real time supervisor helping people manage time more effectively and nudge us away from things that undermine our goals. Additionally, they envisioned a future where technology can create perfectly tailored music or movies for specific moments. The tech they described would require significant privacy sacrifices, I personally would not be interested in such tech. 



Video 2: How will new tech shape your life? A roboticist and a political strategist answer

In this Ted Intersections video, political strategist Bradley Tusk and roboticist Ali Kashani primarily discuss the regulatory challenges that innovations face. They highlighted how regulatory capture hindered Uber’s market entry and contrasted the challenges faced by Uber with those of Byrd electric scooters. While Uber faced regulations governing car-for-hire transportation, electric scooters lacked such regulations before their market launch. Additionally, they discussed Tusk’s open-source mobile voting technology. I believe implementing this technology for elections would significantly enhance our political system and outcomes. It could reduce the political influence of large corporations and donors that often prevent legislation from passing. 

  • As a future software engineer, reflect on the Harvard Podcast on AI's Perils and Promises 

I found the discussion to be really interesting. The guests raised several critical ethical concerns related to AI and technological advancement. They emphasized the importance of closely monitoring the progress of technology to identify potential consequences and prevent disasters similar to those caused by other technologies throughout history. As future software engineers, we will have a certain influence on the direction technology takes. We will also have a responsibility to develop ethical technology that benefits society. 


  • Presentation skills reading/video

This week, we acquired valuable presentation skills and tips to enhance our presentation abilities. Some of these tips include omitting unnecessary details in the slides, limiting the number of bullet points, and using visuals that are not overly distracting to effectively convey information. The knowledge gained from the reading and video will be useful for our upcoming two research video projects.

WEEK 2   Part 1: Review and Reflect Learning Strategy What are the top 3 items that you are good at.  WEEK 6 Part 1: Help Your Teammates to Develop Capstone Ideas In this week’s team meeting, we discussed our capstone project ideas. Everyone in my team was undecided about whether they wanted to work alone or in a team for the capstone. One of the intriguing capstone ideas was a medicine management system with potential applications in nursing homes. We also divided the workload for the upcoming video project.   Part 2: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal CST 349 For one of our assignments we developed a ILP portfolio website where we will store a portfolio of major assignments and projects we complete in each course through the program.
